Jura by Iona Marcellino

Ebb and flow
Of slate waves
On pebble-stoned sand
Soft calls of swans and seals
Reclaiming their magic
Land
Ancient brambles
Torn along edges
Of churches and fields
Faithfully protecting
The hills, the lakes, the gin,
The solitary yield.
Final light on the sea,
Otters whisper,
Salt crests crash,
Bending that grey sky
Back to me.

Iona Marcellino is a Scottish born poet, writer, and TCK advocate. She uses her global experiences and transient lifestyle to influence her writing. Her poems explore themes of grief and longing in disquiet moments.
