The Tower Block by Jane Davidson

You live in the tower block, filed away and forgotten.
But, you know your neighbours well,
from the stories
you read through
the thin
walls.

You live in the tower block, unable to walk outside.
But, a piece of the sky belongs to you
as wide as your windows.
There are no pets allowed.
But, the pigeons coo to you
from the window
ledge.

You live in a tower block, wishing you could hear the rain,
as it dances on the pavement.
But, you hear the thunder,
while you watch
the lightning shows
from your
bed.

You live in a tower bloke, a hawk with golden eyes
watches you from the window ledge.
Sirens sound louder and louder.
Stretching out his wings,
you watch him till
he is out of sight
free.
